Prayer: Plain and Simple

03 Dec

I read a very disturbing comment yesterday that said something about there not being a bigger waste of time than prayer! Stopped me in my tracks, and forced me to stop and pray for that very person who made the remark. Prayer, a waste of time? It is sad to me that someone thinks this, but even more sad to think that this person is not the only one. Our world is full of people who have never experienced the power of prayer! Some of them may have just never tried to pray for something, others may have prayed for something specific in their lives and the outcome wasn’t what they prayed that it would be. Let me assure you that God is on the throne of your life, and he’s in control of every situation. If you allow him, he will direct you, but he also gives you free will if you are stubborn and want to do things your way. It is true that sometimes when you pray for one outcome, it may not happen that way, but God has the bigger picture and knows what is best! Like if you have a friend or family member who has cancer and you pray that they will be healed and then they die. Well, if that person was a believer, death is their ultimate healing because they have a new body in Heaven! They were healed, just not as we on earth would have like for them to be healed because we miss them. If you think on their terms, however, they received an answer to prayer…eternal life!

Prayer does change things, though, in ways that we may not even see! God moves in response to the prayers of his people! This study came out recently that proves it! Definitely worth taking the time to read!

I believe God wants us to live natural lives, using the things he created. Man-made substitutes cannot compare. In addition to this, I believe we cannot be blessed with the health and happiness we were made for without this most crucial natural ingredient: PRAYER!

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you. When a believing person prays, great things happen.” James 5:16 (NCV)
