Consulting Adam and Eve

My hubby and I have adopted a new way of looking at things. We ask ourselves, “what did Adam and Eve do?”. We figure that is the best way to decipher what would be the most natural way of approaching just about any situation, since they only had the basics and their gut instinct! Man hadn’t populated the world yet and come up with their own ideas and toxic ways of approaching sickness or parenting…or anything, for that matter! Did they have doctors in the early years of the world? Of course! But you can bet the doctors back then didn’t give them the toxic medications that are so often consumed today! They used what they had to work with – herbs, plants, fresh organic produce, etc. God obviously provided all these things not only for our nutrition, but to have medicinal properties that aid in healing various ailments and sickness.

So, when situations come up and we wonder how we should approach it, we look at how things were when God created the world since that was how he intended it to be. Did Eve have an epidural? Was her labor induced? Did Eve use formula? Did Adam pop an aspirin every time he had a headache? Did they place their baby in a separate room and let him cry himself to sleep? Did they vaccinate their children? Did they consume processed foods full of pesticides to nourish their bodies? Did Adam treat their lawn every spring with chemical weed killer? Did they cook their food in a microwave? Did they use soaps, shampoos, hairsprays, deodorants and other products daily that contained toxic chemicals? These are the types of questions we ask ourselves in our daily lives. What are the answers? No, no, and no to all! They had only pure, natural, unadulterated ingredients to work with, and they just listened to their natural instincts – not society (as there was no society yet…ha!). We may not be able to do everything now like they did, but it’s a principle thing.

I want to get back to the basics. I want us to try to approach our lives more like Adam and Eve did. The natural way. The healthy way. The way God created it.

Prayer: Plain and Simple

I read a very disturbing comment yesterday that said something about there not being a bigger waste of time than prayer! Stopped me in my tracks, and forced me to stop and pray for that very person who made the remark. Prayer, a waste of time? It is sad to me that someone thinks this, but even more sad to think that this person is not the only one. Our world is full of people who have never experienced the power of prayer! Some of them may have just never tried to pray for something, others may have prayed for something specific in their lives and the outcome wasn’t what they prayed that it would be. Let me assure you that God is on the throne of your life, and he’s in control of every situation. If you allow him, he will direct you, but he also gives you free will if you are stubborn and want to do things your way. It is true that sometimes when you pray for one outcome, it may not happen that way, but God has the bigger picture and knows what is best! Like if you have a friend or family member who has cancer and you pray that they will be healed and then they die. Well, if that person was a believer, death is their ultimate healing because they have a new body in Heaven! They were healed, just not as we on earth would have like for them to be healed because we miss them. If you think on their terms, however, they received an answer to prayer…eternal life!

Prayer does change things, though, in ways that we may not even see! God moves in response to the prayers of his people! This study came out recently that proves it! Definitely worth taking the time to read!

I believe God wants us to live natural lives, using the things he created. Man-made substitutes cannot compare. In addition to this, I believe we cannot be blessed with the health and happiness we were made for without this most crucial natural ingredient: PRAYER!

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so God can heal you. When a believing person prays, great things happen.” James 5:16 (NCV)

Safer Deodorants

Many people don’t realize that most deodorant/antiperspirants contain aluminum, among other things, which is very toxic to our bodies! It is also in many processed/prepackaged foods out there. When I discovered this, I started using Tom’s deodorant, which I love! It is more expensive than some of more popular brands, but can you really put a price on your health?

In case you would like to be more cautious about what you put on your underarm, but don’t want to pay the higher price, I did come across this post from Journey to Green about making your own deodorant! Haven’t tried it, but it looks like a low-cost, healthy way to stay fresh and dry all day!
